Salt, Exercise and Cognitive Decline

Salt, Exercise and Cognitive Decline

A study posted in Neurobiology of Aging indicates that older adults who have sodium-rich diets and lack physical activity are at higher risk of cognitive decline. Results show that a diet high in sodium combined with little exercise is especially detrimental. The study also demonstrates that adults who have low-sodium diets are at a lower risk of experiencing cognitive decline even if they are not active. Health Canada recommends no more than 2,300 mg of sodium per day and plenty of exercise.
